Acupuncture is the painless insertion of fine (about the thickness of a human hair) sterilized, stainless-steel needles into specific meridian points near the surface of the skin. There are over two thousand different acupuncture points on the body including those situated along the limbs, chest, abdomen, back, spine, ears, face and scalp. Originating over three thousand years ago in China, acupuncture utilizes the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine to successfully prevent and treat a variety of illnesses.

Scientifically acupuncture has been shown to effect the Nervous, endocrine and immune systems and have been shown to be effective in the treatment of specific health problems.

Each patient receives care based upon their overall health and the severity of their symptoms of disharmony, which determines the location and the number of needles are used. Once placed the needles are retained for a varied length of time (between 15 and 45 minutes.) Our patients typically feel relaxed and refreshed and enjoy the experience of acupuncture.
